Objective

The goal is for students to learn and practice self-care strategies to boost mood, improve focus and decrease anxiety.

Examples of self-care strategies are:

Mindful Breathing
Journaling
Time Management Tips

Research supports the various positive psychological effects, including increased subjective well-being, reduced psychological symptoms, and emotional reactivity, and improved behavioral regulation when such strategies are used.

This is an opportunity for social connection, relationship building, and resource sharing. Students will be encouraged to develop and use their own self-care action plan based on their experiences and preferences.

  1. Students will increase their awareness of resources to support their mental health and well-being.

  2. Students will practice strategies and have access to an accountability system/container.

  3. The group meeting format will create social connections focused on healthy well-being.

Feedback from students will be requested to assist in measuring effectiveness.

Our outreach efforts will include LACOE Community Schools Advocates (Pasadena Unified School District), school wellness centers, and other school district partnerships. Our wellness programs teach students and educators. (Youth Mental Health First Aid)
